5 Easy Ways To Affirm Your Life: With Affirmations




Do you believe in the power of affirmations?


I do because affirmations affirm life. They can affirm your life and the choices you make within it. Affirmations can be a powerful way to help you reach your goals.


They do this by helping you build and maintain optimism and turn around a negative mindset. The most common way of using affirmations is to repeat them until they become part of your positive self-talk

But saying your affirmations to yourself in front of the mirror can get real old really quickly. That’s where this post comes in. It’s important to find more creative ways of building an affirmation practice into your daily routine. You can supercharge your motivation by injecting a little affirmation sauce into every aspect of your day. It’s one way to manage your stress before your stress manages you.


1. Write Your Affirmations





Writing down your affirmations makes them more tangible. Studies such as this 2014 one by Pam A. Mueller and Daniel M. Oppenheimer have shown that the physical act of writing enables your brain to remember better. For me, the act of writing makes things much more tangible and easier to incorporate into my consciousness.


And there are a wide variety of ways to record your own affirmations. You could:


  1. Try keeping a journal

  2. Writing affirmations on post-it notes and leaving them where they’re easy to see such as on your fridge, bathroom mirror, or computer.

  3. Place reminders on your smartphone or tablet with the text of each affirmation and have them appear at different times of the day.


2. Make Affirmation Themed Art


Much like you do when you use creativity as self-care in the form of expressive journaling, you should consider making art that’s themed around your affirmations.


Even if you’re like me and can’t draw, don’t let that stop you! You can use paint, paper as a collage, clay, rubber stamps, crayons, photographs or colored pencils and let your inner child loose. Play around with colors, textures and shapes to create interpretations of how your affirmations make you feel.


You could also have the text of your affirmation either affixed to your masterpiece or incorporated into your art.


3. Turn Your Affirmations Into Music




Take a familiar or favorite tune and sing your affirmations instead of the regular lyrics. If you’re gifted with musical abilities, perhaps you can write a song and use your affirmations as the lyrics. You can even create a dance routine to go along with it.


4. Vision Board Your Affirmations


Vision boards are powerful tools for your goals in the forefront of your mind. Affirmations can sometimes feel a bit abstract. With a vision board you can turn your affirmations into concrete images of what you want in your life.


Look for photos that inspire you, make you feel good and connect to the heart of what your affirmation is about. You can make a physical vision board or use an internet platform like Pinterest.


5. Get Inspired


Another way of using your affirmations is through motivational speeches. Look for motivational speakers and writers whose take on how to approach life appeals to you.


There’s tons of motivational talks on the internet – you can find them on sites like TED Talks, Goal Cast and YouTube. Search for motivation from people you admire or those who have made their dreams come true while overcoming adversity.


It’s essential to find someone whose values and approach feel right to you. Don’t just watch an influencer because they’re popular. Check to make sure that the themes of the motivational speeches ring true to you and your affirmations.
