4 Ways to Make Your Vision Board Super Effective

With everything that you do, there’s always room for improvement, right?

Vision boards are amazing. I’ve spoken about them in previous posts in respect to the power that they have to help you make positive changes in your life, how to improve your self-care though the use of a vision board, and even how to make an electronic one.

But, as with anything else, your vision board can always be better. And by better I mean there are ways to make it more effective. There are a few tips and tricks you can follow to increase the effectiveness of the vision boards that you create.

It’s important to make your vision board as effective as you can because the purpose of a vision board is to help you to become the best version of yourself. It helps you to bring your goals and dreams to fruition. And achievement is one way of managing your stress before your stress manages you.

So, if you’re looking to fast-track your progress in achieving your goals through the use of a vision board, read on for 4 ways to make your vision board super effective.

Work It

1. Your Most Important Goal – Focus On It 1st

Traditionally, vision boards allow people to have a complete snapshot of all the various aspects of their lives so that multiple things can be changed.

Whether its weight loss, travel or career ambitions; all are represented on the same vision board. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

However, your vision board can be more effective if you focus on one thing at a time even if there’s a lot of things in your life that you want to change. Besides focusing on only one goal, you should make sure to focus on your most important or meaningful goal first.

If you’re unsure about which goal is the most important, then consider the following questions:

  • Which of your goals will make the biggest difference in your life right now?

  • Which goals are most directly connected to your passions?

  • Which goals will inspire the biggest change in your life overall?

By focusing on the most important goal first, you’re gonna deliver a big impact to the thing that will benefit your wellbeing the most.

2. Be Clear And Specific About Each Goal

If you want to focus on more than just one goal, consider making multiple vision boards. You can either have several small boards or make an electronic one that you can scroll through or save various copies of on your phone or desktop.

For each goal that you set; it’s important that you make sure that it’s clear and specific. Create a SMART goal and use your vision board as a supplement to that goal.

For instance, say you have a SMART goal to lose 30 pounds by losing at least two pounds each week. And of course, you’ve added in a timeframe and measurement milestones. You can have the goal written at the top of your vision board and all your photos, text, charms, etc. should then be related to the goal. That’ll help keep you motivated and see the fastest progress.

In the case of our example, your text and photos would be related to the various components of your SMART goal. So you might have pictures of yourself previously at your goal weight, you might have text related to drinking 8 glasses of water each day or pictures of fruits & veggies. However, you’re gonna measure your progress could also be something that you put on your vision board – maybe you have a chart that shows your weight loss milestones.

The less clear you are about your goal, the less effective your vision board is going to be. So, as you think of your goal, try your best to make it SMART and then break it down as much as you can. And in breaking your goal down, you might see that your goal in actuality consists of several mini goals each of which leads you one step closer to your final goal.

3. Know That You’ll Need To Put The Work In

As with most things in life, if it’s something worthwhile that you want to achieve, it won’t be just handed to you. You’re gonna have to work for it. While vision boards in my opinion are absolutely effective in helping you reach your goals, they aren’t going to transform you and your life unless you put the work in. Use your vision board as a tool to motivate you to make any necessary changes.

The key to becoming the best version of yourself is focus. You need to be 100% focused on achieving the goal that you set. Review your goal, look at your vision board, visualize what it’ll be like when you achieve it.

That focus will keep you motivated to achieve your goal. I look at my vision board twice a day to keep me motivated and to remind me of what needs to be done in order to reach my goals.

4. Focus On Your Feelings Not Your Thoughts

When you’re creating your vision board, it’s common to concentrate on your goals and the things that you want. And you should. But it’s also important to thank about how you feel about your goals as well.

One of the functions of a vision board is to enlarge your vision. To enlarge your vision of yourself. Often our thoughts are filled with doubts and limitations. So, when you’re creating your vision board, it’s a good idea to focus on how you feel and how the goals you’re setting will make you feel.

By focusing on your feelings rather than your thoughts, you’ll be able to create better, stronger, more fulfilling goals. Increasing your positive feelings around those goals.

Overall, vision boards are a fantastic tool for helping you to transform yourself and your life. By following the tips above, you’ll be able to create the most effective vision board to help you to live your best life. It’s all about making time.
